They began to have a fierce contention about their beauty.

The Swallow boasted about her bright and colorful plumage.

She said her feathers looked beautiful in the warm sunshine.

The Crow listened to her and decided to end the dispute.

He said, Your feathers are indeed very pretty in the spring.

But when it gets cold, my thick black feathers protect me.

Your beautiful feathers cannot save you from the winter freezing.

Fair weather friends are not worth much in difficult times.
